The MySheffield Web portal and Content Managment System

My Sheffield is a web site and content management system for people interested in Sheffield, its history and its communities. The site has evolved over anumber of years through the contribution of ideas and projects from young people and people from groups in the city. The site is designed to support a number of modules, each module is overseen by members with an established interest in the area.

The different sections

The map and Sheffield Past are centered on an interactive 1935 Ordinance Survey Map layered with Google maps. This module is supported by Sheffield Local studies library and linked to the picturesheffield.com picture archive. Through this module we explore change in Sheffield and try and give a historical perspective to economic decline and regeneration.

Sheffield Community looks at activities across the city in Sheffields different communties, this module is overseen by High Green Youth Forum and a growing network of other youth empowerment projects. In this module we focus widely on Art and Culture, Faith and Food.

Sheffield Environment has developed thorugh our collaberation with Sheffield Black and Ethnic Minority Environment Network, the Young Adult Action Forum and Peak Park, here we are looking to work with members interested in promoting wider use of open spaces and a respect for the natural environment.

Through our World module we are looking to develop our contacts across the world to promote greater understanding of economic development in different countries. This module will focus on world events, travel, and the exchange of ideas.
