This was our local picture house 1960 to 1968, 101 dalmations spring to mind but also the chip shop opposite probably where the camera man was stood taking this picture 1s-2p for chips and cake. we used to walk down from Carwood Crescent off Petre Street which was about 2 mile to the right of the picture. Just before arriving at the cinema to queue for the next show there were some houses high elevated very close to the pavement where some little tricksters used to dangle a three penny piece on a length of cotton and the unsuspected gullable pedestrian (ME) went to pick it up to pay for his admision the little buggers pulled on the cotton to whip it up away from me. Wonderfull memories and also the chance, in them days to catch up with the start of the movie by staying in for the next showing, we could'nt pause the DVD in them days
I do believe that this was also the location of smiths Motorcycles in the 70s. I bought a new Yamaha DT175 from them in 1974. The Wicker Arches is a bit further down the road to the left of the picture
